Team USA had the strongest finish in recent history at the 2016 Rio Paralympic Games. 115 medals in the 2016 Rio Paralympic Games – 40 Gold, 44 Silver and 31 Bronze – were won by the team of 289 athletes.
Team USA’s Tatyana McFadden and Jessica Long won six medals each, in track and field and swimming, respectively. McFadden won four gold and two silver with Long winning a gold, three silver and two bronze.
Athletes from Team USA set eight world records during the competition, including six in swimming- three made by Rebecca Meyers. Other world records were made by David Blair and Rachael Morrison in discus, with Blair breaking his former world record.
The Team USA men won gold in wheelchair basketball for the first time in 28 years.
